Tis the season to eat, drink and be merry. What better time and place to do so than a boozy work lunch at the renowned Hawksmoor?
We had got wind of a slightly special Christmas burger donning their menu during Dec so with company credit card in hand off we skipped to a fancier part of town.
I must say, the place was quite quiet and corporate but still smart and we got a cute booth table.
Bubbles is a must when celebrating Christmas with work buds. A few mocktails for the less hardcore. They looked tasty, but lets be honest its always better with a shot of the hard stuff.
I’ve never been to a Hawksmoor before but I’ve heard good things, especially the steaks. But alas, we are here for the festive burgers, so let’s crack on. At £15 a pop I’m expecting to get my monies worth. Oh boy, little did we know what we were in for.
Samirah and Poppy opted for the traditional beef burger. This gorgeous looking pattie was topped with blue cheese. One sexy bit of cow.
The rest of us had this gigantic plate put in front of us. Holy crap.
So, what’s in this heart attack tower? A deep fried piece of chunky moist turkey breast, a sausage meat pattie, crispy smokey bacon covered in a melty mature cheddar cheese, finished with cranberry and sprout tops all on a soft bun.
It came with a boat of the tastiest onion gravy with chunks of sausage meat bobbing inside. YES, sausage in the gravy, good lord I love Christmas. Perfect for chip dipping and bread soaking.
Since we all wore expandable trousers, why not order a few pots of mac n cheese?
It was perfectly creamy on the inside and crunchy on the out. Super cheesy and stringy. Perfection.
A huge tin of triple cooked chips came alongside. Not the faint hearted, they were pretty dirty. Fluffy inside and triple fried crispy goodness on the outside.
A pic of the crew before we tuck in.
The Christmas burger again. Just because, look at it.
I’m not kidding that was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Or attempted to eat. Each part of the burger was great quality and perfectly cooked. Top marks for the gravy- chef must be northern.
A pit stop for some delish Rioja. Although I’m not looking particularly fresh in this pic after that huge meal, I needed to show off my new spangly jacket. Great isn’t it.
After demolishing the lot, we crazily then agreed to desserts. (and more wine)
George settled on a sticky toffee sundae.
I simply had to get the sticky toffee pudding after reading sooo many bloggers rave about it. Jeeze, it was amazing. Super dense and rich, drenched in dark treacle. It had a generous dollop of clotted cream on top. All time fave pud right here.
The rest shared two of the Ambassadors reception. A cheeky take on the ever popular ferrero rocher treat. It was all edible, even the gold paper. It’s so pretty.
I think we all bonded over this meal. We were in agreement to Uber back to the office, there is no way I could physically do the tube.
Fab lunch at Hawksmoor, the staff are really friendly and swift but we didn’t feel rushed. Great value on the burgers too. We left STUFFED.
