Mike and I were desperate for some early summer sun so managed to get a cheapy flight over to Bulgaria a few weeks back. We have our big hol to Disney & Miami in Sept but needed a little fix before then. Brats I know. We stayed in a cool apartment in the centre of Bourgas curtesy of my rents pals 5 mins from the beach- it was lush. We literally spent 4 days lazing on the beach and going for drinks and obviously dinners.
Bulgaria is cheap and when I say cheap I mean like £1 a pint/ 3 courses and wine for £40 cheap. We headed down to the beach front on our last night to Neptune which came highly recommended to chow down.
Gorgeous setting overlooking the sea, beaut table and lovely service.
I went for the seafood risotto to start- it was huge. Clearly a main. Squid, muscles and king prawns in a safron’y sauce. Delish.
Mike had a piled high bruschetta with prosciutto and avo.
The sun was just setting as our mains arrived, twas a dream, so relaxing- the mini bottles of fizz probably helped too.
For mains Mike obviously darted for the steak. A giant rib eye the size of my head. I had something a little different, a venison steak in a creamy mushroom sauce. Both amazingly cooked.
In Bulgaria fries can come in all shapes and sizes, this time we got thinly sliced potatoes, deep friend with salt and rosemary- omg. We also got a huge plate of grilled vegetables, which we clearly didn’t need but for 75p why not.
Neptune was lush, defo a hot spot in this part of town, it was packed. Great end to a lovely getaway.
