Sunday Roast @ Hawksmoor, Borough

Arguably the best roast in town. Hawksmoor know what they’re doing with meat. The OGs of beef. So when that rare Sunday comes up when you’re not too hungover to leave the house and the girls are free it’s a no brainer. Must book.

The Borough branch is perfect for Sunday. You can walk along the river, mooch around the market and then get cosy for the feast.

We started with a little bone marrow and crusty sourdough while we got started on the oblig red wine. Wowzer, so salty so moorish.

The main even is simple but incredible. £20 for Two generous slices of the finest roast beef- look at the perfectly pink middle and the bloody gorgeous slither of juicy fat.

A Yorkshire the size of your head, crispy roasties, tasty seasonal veg and not forgetting a whole bulb of garlic roasted to perfection for that extra flavour. Dollop of horse radish, jug of delicious gravy. Heaven.

Now I don’t throw around statements like these often, so when I also say they have THE BEST sticky toffee pudding, I mean it. Don’t waste your time anywhere else (maybe Smokestak is a close contender) get the pudding. The ocean of toffee sauce on the plate and clotted cream on top just makes me so happy.

We also shared a honeycomb toffee crisp bar with all the chocolatey goodness.

A lush way to spend a few lazy hours. The place was full but never seemed too loud. The service was quick and super friendly but we didn’t feel rushed. They tick all the food coma boxes too- top marks from us.
